Partnership between artist and startups

By Ian | 25 February, 2013

Over the last few months I have socially been in contact with several artists. As some of my interests are marketing, branding and product development, I am naturally interested in how the artist positions themselves on the market, who their clients are, what kind of products they sell.

Of course such words such as “brand” or “product” are missing in their vocabulary, however I have noticed an interest in these concepts when I help them to put the “Flexnotic” glasses an, showing them the world of products, channels, product development, using hidden assets, SEO, JV, etc. After all, most artists are pleased when they can sell more of their “products”.

Artists need customers (with a wallet of money). Startups need customers (with a wallet of money). Hmm? I thought. Why not put them together? So in the next couple of months I will be having ago at developing a working concept and joining up a couple.

Some people will say - “Hey man, we have been doing this for years - we let some artist hang their pictures in our offices”. Yes, but I would like to go a step further and have a tool which both parties could use to gain maximum efficiency out of the work involved. A kind of canvas with checklist, etc.

If you have any ideas I would be willing to hear them.
