Domain Name Services (DNS) are the services which your browser needs to get the website from the right computer, or your email needs to send an email to the right person.
It translates the domain name such as ianlive.com, amazon.de to the server IP address.
To do this translation, there is a large network of servers across the world who offer information. They are called public dns servers.
